The Reese Library HVAC renovation project continues to move forward. During intersession, work was completed in the third floor high student use areas including restrooms, group study rooms, and the instruction room.
The project has now moved on to the next phase. For approximately the next 11 weeks, construction will be taking place on the east side of the 3rd floor and part of the west side of the 2nd floor.
Throughout this project the Library has ensured the availability of the book collection. During intersession, Reese Library staff were busy shifting books back to their previous location as well as moving others to their new temporary location. Books with call numbers DS 269 .K87 K66 2003 – HQ 536 G36 and HQ 682 B55 – PE 1702 E5 V.1 are accessible on the 3rd floor with signage designating the new areas. All books with the TX Call Numbers have been moved to the reference section on the 1st floor.
There was not enough room to shift all of the books. In order to still ensure continued availability, a paging system has been established. Any book that falls outside of the call number ranges mentioned above can be requested at the Information Desk and a member of the Library staff will retrieve the book(s) at that time. We will also provide a few books on either side of the intended book to provide the user with the ability to browse additional books in the requested subject area.
Once completed the new HVAC system will bring a major improvement to the temperature and air quality of Reese Library.
