GRU Libraries share at 4th Annual CSRA Library Association Conference


IMG_0111Twelve librarians and library professionals attended the fourth annual CSRA Annual conference this past Friday at Paine College in Augusta.

The CSRA LA annual conference is designed to enhance usefulness and efficiency of libraries in the CSRA; to promote high professional standards; to facilitate communication among its members; and to cooperate with organizations which have similar or allied interests.The conference included librarians and paraprofessionals representing public libraries, school media centers, special libraries, and academic libraries.

The Central Savannah River Area Library Association includes libraries in the Georgia counties of Burke, Columbia, Emanuel, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Screven, Taliaferro, Warren and Wilkes. It includes the South Carolina counties of Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Edgefield, Hampton, Jasper, and McCormick. The largest city in the area is Augusta, GA.

Representing Reese Library were CSRA LA Vice-President Autumn Johnson, Treasurer Kyle McCarrell, Secretary Carol Waggoner-Angleton, and Newsletter Editor, Fay Verburg.

IMG_0185Two Reesers delivered presentations at the conference. Jeff Heck, Assistant Director of Libraries, presented “Open Access Publication Using Digital Commons: Lessons Learned.” Ginny Feher, Government Information Librarian, presented “Government Information and the CSRA.” Both presentations were well-received by the group.

Also in attendance were Reese Library’s Maryska Connolly-Brown, Kate Culver, Melissa Johnson, Tina McClarnon, Fay Verburg, Miriam Zecharias and Greenblatt Library’s Tom Cutshall.
