From Special Collections & Institutional Archives:
The finding aid “Augusta Fire Department records, 1879-1884″ (ARCHS 007) describes records of late nineteenth century fires and associated property damage. This material was transferred to the Augusta Richmond County Historical Society by the Augusta Richmond County Museum in 1978.

The descriptions are contained within a leather-bound ledger book, with “FIRE RECORD,” “A.F.D.”, and “5” written on the spine. Within every entry is a description of the fire’s location, the date and time during which the fire started, and total losses.
This finding aid is one of several at Reese Library Special Collections & Institutional Archives related to the history of the Augusta Fire Department.
