Elizabeth Lightfoot to join AU Libraries as Inaugural Director of Collections and Resource Strategies

The Augusta University Libraries is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Lightfoot has been chosen to be the AU Libraries inaugural Director of Collections and Resource Strategies.  As part of the Dean’s Senior Leadership team, Elizabeth will provide leadership for collections, acquisitions, cataloging, e-resources, scholarly communications, data services, special collections, and government documents for the Augusta University Libraries.  Elizabeth joins AU from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries as their Collections Strategist, where she was responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Libraries’ collection development and management operations.  Previous to UW-Madison, Elizabeth spent 13 years in increasingly responsible positions in collections and technical services at a variety of institutions, including most recently at Florida International University.

Elizabeth has significant and deep knowledge of the issues facing academic libraries and the research universities they support.  She is a published author and presenter on issues such as licensing, open access, and electronic resource management.  She also has been active at the state and national level in the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, and ALA CORE.  Elizabeth has a significant record of work in large consortiums in Florida and Wisconsin, which will serve us well with the GALILEO consortium.

When speaking about her new role, Elizabeth stated, “I am delighted to be joining Augusta University! The University’s goals are ambitious and exciting. I look forward to partnering with colleagues in the Libraries and across the University to steward and strengthen existing and future library collections and resources, as well as to support teaching, learning, and research as the University attains its goals.”

Elizabeth will start on September 1st and will be spending time at both the Reese and Greenblatt Libraries.  We are glad to have you here at Augusta!
