The University Libraries participated in Augusta University’s Club Fest at the Jaguar Student Activities Center’s Amphitheater from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Club Fest, part of the University’s larger Weeks of Welcome series, provides an opportunity for students to learn about the different organizations and clubs AU provides. As part of the festivities, the AU Libraries hosted a Book Swap, which gave students the opportunity to grab some books, donate other books and learn more about the services the AU libraries have to offer.

During the event, representatives from the libraries spoke with 142 different students. In addition to the book swap, the libraries took the opportunity to promote its new book club for undergraduate students: Reese Reads.
The debut book for the club is “Sold” by Patricia McCormick. The novel is a realistic fiction piece telling the story of Lakshmi, a girl from Nepal who is sold into sexual slavery. The 2014 movie of the same name is based off the novel. The novel for October will be “First Lie Wins” by Ashley Elston.
The Reese Reads book club will host its debut meeting at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
