Reese Library’s New Head Librarian: Barbara Mann

Barb Mann

The Georgia Regents University Libraries are pleased to announce the selection of a new head librarian for Reese Library, Barbara Mann. Mann most recently served as Associate Director for Public Services at the University of Maryland University College. She has extensive experience serving a number of national library and information science organizations in leadership and on committees. Mann is the 2012 recipient of the Association of College and Research Libraries Instruction Section Miriam Dudley Instruction Librarian Award, which honors librarians who have made a noteworthy impact in the field of library instruction.

Mann also brings strong Georgia connections to the head librarian position. She attended high school in the state, and after receiving her Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of South Carolina, Mann worked for several years in Atlanta at Emory University’s Robert W. Woodruff Library.

Dr. Brenda Seago, GRU Director of Libraries, praises Mann’s “proven leadership skills and passion for information literacy” as “vital to the Libraries’ pursuit of Association of Research Libraries membership.”
