Sherri Brooks and Jenn Putman were announced as the recipients of the 2015 GRU Libraries Staff Recognition Awards on April 27 at a special ceremony held in the Reese Library’s Special Collections. Nominations for the staff awards were received from the GRU Libraries faculty and staff. Greenblatt Library and Reese Library voted on those who were nominated for their respective Library. This was the second year the GRU Libraries have given the awards.
Sherri Brooks, Medical Library Specialist I, has been with the Greenblatt Library since August 2008 and serves in the Access Services and Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Department. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Brooklyn College, City University of New York and a Master of Library Science degree from Queen’s College, City University of New York. Sherri was nominated and chosen as a winner of this year’s annual staff recognition award because of her patience, professionalism, and positive attitude. As a member of Access and ILL, Sherri is at the “front-line” of the Greenblatt Library and is skilled and knowledgeable in many services and resources of Greenblatt. As a team player, she is always willing to help, no matter how small or how large the job may be; she has assisted faculty with several projects and presentations. Sherri is a delightful and dependable coworker. Her smile is always a welcome sight as you walk into the Greenblatt Library.
Jennifer Putnam, known to most as Jenn, has been with the Reese Library since November 2013 and serves as a Reference Assistant in the Reference and Education Services Department. Jenn’s B.A. in English is from LaGrange College, and she earned her M.A. in Medieval Literature from the University of York (England). Jenn is always looking for new projects to initiate that will benefit the library users, and when she comes up with an idea, she sees it through. She truly wants to help GRU students succeed, as evidenced by her dedication to many projects. Jenn collaborated with another Reese Library staff member, Thomas Weeks, to create a multi-media tutorial on utilizing GIL-Express after seeing the need due to the number of questions from students. Her creative talents have enhanced various library products, including library content for student orientation and handouts for library resources. Jenn was instrumental in the planning and implementation of the Reese Library 24/7 access pilot project. Jenn is a leader and is always willing to go the extra mile to help whoever needs it.
Jenn and Sherri each received a certificate, flowers, and $250 as the recipients of the 2015 GRU Libraries Staff Recognition Awards. We are fortunate to have Jenn and Sherri on our teams at the GRU Libraries!
