The Greenblatt Library is currently hosting “The Perfect Gift: The African American Organ Transplantation Project,” a photography exhibit honoring living organ donors, organ donors and recipients, and families of deceased donors. The exhibit is sponsored by LifeLink of Georgia an organization devoted to organ donor education, donor registry, and facilitation of transplant procedures. The elegant black and white portraits beautifully highlight the need for organ donation within the African American community as there are currently 4,000 Georgians in need of an organ and 63% of those on the waiting list are African American. A reception in conjunction with “The Perfect Gift” exhibit will be held at the library on Thursday, May 25th from 5pm-7pm. Refreshments will be provided by Tastefully Done and speakers include Mayor Garnett Johnson and local donor families.
