Washington Quilt Display Case

Today the permanent display case for the Washington Quilt was delivered and installed at Reese Library. The quilt honors local educators Drs. Justine and Isaiah “Ike” Washington for whom Washington Hall is named. The Washington Quilt can be viewed during the library’s normal operating hours and is available for checkout to local teachers so that students can view the quilt in their classroom (prior arrangements must be made through Special Collections).

The Augusta University Libraries would like to thank Nancy Glaser and the Augusta Museum of History for the construction and installation of the case, and thanks the library staff members (Thomas Weeks, Courtney Berge, Melissa Johnson, Katlyn Tuten) and the IT students (Jamie Navarro and Sam Allen) that helped move the case safely from the parking lot and into the library. For more information on the quilt checkout process and procedures, please contact Special Collections Librarian Courtney Berge at 706-737-1475 or cberge@augusta.edu.
